Warner Robins GA Real Estate, Warner Robins area and Community Information
Warner Robins is a thriving military city located in Central Georgia. This is a community that has undergone many changes over the years and has been named as one of Georgia's fastest growing cities ever. Home to
Robins Air Force Base and just minutes from Macon and Perry, Warner Robins offers an abundance of employment possibilities.
History of Warner Robins
The original inhabitants of the area we know as Warner Robins today were Creek Indians. However, the land was given to the state of Georgia in 1821 and dubbed the town of York. During this time, the town consisted of nothing more than a small country store, a post office and several local farms.
In the early 1900s when the train station placed its tracks in York, the town was renamed Wells after the chief engineer William Wells. The town of Wells evolved quite a bit over the next several decades; however, the biggest change was when civic leaders decided to donate much of Wells' land to the military.
Construction of Robins Air Force Base began almost immediately, and the town was renamed again after Brigadier General Augustine Warner Robins. Although the city of Warner Robins has seen some difficult times, today it is a thriving military community comprised of a variety of large and small businesses.
